Good for Nothing

“Wardman Gym,” Gregory answered quickly. “It’s now our art department. When they built the new facility, they were going to tear this one down because no one knew what to do with it. But, the head of the art department asked for a chance to convert it. When it was all said and done, space went from a gym to what you’ll see today.” Gregory opened the door and proceeded him into the building. The hard wood and open space had been transformed into classrooms, showplaces, and offices. It really is quite fascinating how much work they did around here.”

Something out of the corner of Elliot’s eye caught his attention, distracting him from everything his T.A. was saying. His gaze lit on the back of a man about two inches taller than him, and about twenty pounds heavier, give or take a few. The broad expanse of his back gave way to tapered hips, and muscular legs. His long sleeve white shirt had been rolled up at the elbow exposing forearms covered in tattoos. I wonder if they go all the way up his arms and if he has others? Elliot licked his lips, yearning to trace each pattern. His gaze then lowered to the fitted denim cupping his ass, and he felt his groin tighten instantly. Sweet baby Jesus. Inappropriate thoughts filled his mind and he hadn’t even seen the man’s face. Get a grip, man. Stop ogling your fellow staff member. Besides, he could be straight and that would be awkward to say the least.

“Mr. Richardson?” Gregory called out to him and the man stilled. The shoulders of the dark God in front of him, tensed. He turned to the side, giving Elliot a glimpse of his full dark lips and masculine profile, making him gasp. He knew that face. Those lips, that nose. The man’s strong jaw. He knew those dark lashes framed obsidian eyes. If it were possible, Lennox become more handsome over the last twenty years he hadn’t seen the man.

“Uh, yes. Sorry. We were headed to the athletics department next, correct?” Had Lennox stared back at him or did he imagine it all? Clearing his throat, he followed Gregory out of the building and back to the brick path.

Her Angel

Opening the drawer on his desk, Harrison pulled out the plain white embossed card with Thomas’s name and number on it, along with his company’s name. The offer the man made him back at the masquerade tempted him. Maybe with a little time away from his practice, and all the problems Veronica caused, he’d clear his head and figure out his next move. He dialed the number and waited for Thomas to answer.

“Kenner?” Thomas’s gruff voice filled the line.

“Thomas, it’s Harrison,” he said, then qualified himself. “Michael, from the masquerade.”

“Oh hey, man. How are you?”

“Well, I wish I could say I’m good, but that would be a lie.” He blew out a frustrated breath and scrubbed his face. “Is that invitation still available?”

“As a matter of fact it is. You want to tell me what’s going on?”

“Uh, it sounds like you have a full office.” He could hear others in the office with Thomas. He should have realized he might be busy.

“Yeah, but it’s cool. Just my twin and Katarina. You know the Maiden.” He could hear the happiness in his new friend’s voice. The guy deserved it and yes, he remembered the specialist.

“I do remember her, she was very easy on the eyes.” He teased Thomas.

“Keep it in your pocket doc,” he laughed. “So what’s on your mind?”

“Well, you remember my date disappeared?” Thomas grunted in response. “Well, I figured out what happened. Anyway, it’s not good. I need to get away.” He would explain later, as long as Thomas didn’t dig too deep.

“Okay. As long as you don’t mind working a case for me.” Shit yeah, if it got him away from Veronica, he’d do it.

“Sure. Send me a case file and I’ll read up on it before I get out there. I hope you don’t mind me leaving here by the weekend.” He said, opening his computer and the appointment schedule.

“I don’t have a big file on her, but I will send you what I have. Call me when you land and I’ll meet you at the airport.”

“Sounds great, see you then.” Hanging up the phone, he made note of the clients he needed to call, plus the agencies he helped out during the month for onsite calls. By the time he had the list compiled, it had gotten late. He still needed to let Whitney know his plans. “Whitney can you come here for a moment.”

“What can I do for you, sir?” She asked, sitting down in the chair across from him.

“I’m going out of town for a month. I need to get away and clear my head. I’ve already taken care of everything. Here,” he pulled a check out of the top drawer of his desk.

“This should cover you for a month. As soon as I get back, I’ll call you to come back.”

Craving Cameo

“So, are you hoping to hook up with one of the guys here or just going for a random ride? Because if you want a ride, I’ll take you out on baby,” Cameo said, waving at the sweetbutt behind the bar.

“You would do that for me?” She nodded. “I would love that, but I kind of also want to see what the hullabaloo is all about. I mean they’re just men, right? They don’t have super powers or whatever, do they?” A sly grin tugged at the corner of her lips.

She chuckled and shook her head.

“They’re just men. No powers of any kind—mostly. Bad boys of course, but other than that,” Cameo shrugged, “nothing.”

“That’s where you’re wrong little girl,” a deep voice said. Built like a brick shit house, the man stood a good six and a half feet tall. His face was covered in three days of scruff and his piercing blue eyes were startling. “We have sex appeal for our super powers.” He glanced down at Felicia. I bet good money she creamed herself just from his gaze alone. “My name is Cougar.”

Cameo rolled my eyes. He was laying it on thick with Fe. She slowly took his outstretched hand, standing when he pulled slightly. “Felicia,” she said with a breathy sigh.

“Well Felicia, how about we dance and then you can tell me if you want a test drive.” Oh man, the cheese level was pegging out with this guy. She giggled and he turned his attention to her. “You’re welcome to join us.”

“Oh, I’m fine thanks,” Cameo said. “Have fun Fe.”
